I'm going to install the XPDF support for filtering PDFs for text
extraction/search and generating thumbnail images on a DSpace 1.5.2
instance. My centos 5 distribution however, has poppler (a fork of xpdf
3.xx) which seems to have the same programs used. Can anyone say whether
they have used poppler instead of xpdf as per the patch instructions with
success http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS-183.
