Paulo,
Firstly, I want to inquire if you might be interested in utilizing @mire
support for your installation. We can deal with much of these
configuration/customization/installation details for you and we are very
efficient and transparent with our services, all the source and
customizations you contract us to work on would be available within your
DSpace build environment. Likewise, recently, we've been working on a new
Faceted search/browse solution for DSpace that, for the content of your
site, would make an excellent demonstration of the new technology.

This Debug issue is known and problematic. We are trying to find a solution.
I might recommend using individual log4j.categories to turn on debugging
within the DSpace application packages only.

this should definitely work, I've never encountered a problem with it, I
would doublecheck that your "aspects" and "themes" are all configured
correctly within it.

It should run out of the box as long as the directories are properly created
in /dspace/solr.

that seems sensible...

I would, if you are relegating each of these to a separate vhost or tomcat
instance, keep to the original naming convention...
/dspace/
jobimspace/webapps/solr...
jobimspace/webapps/solr...
caymmispace/webapps/solr...
luciospace/webapps/solr...
chicospace/webapps/solr...
etc...
