Yes you can reference other schema in the input-forms.xml, for example...

          <field>
                    <dc-schema>other</dc-schema>
                    <dc-element>title</dc-element>
                    <dc-qualifier></dc-qualifier>
                    <repeatable>false</repeatable>
                    <label>Title of Book</label>
                    <input-type>onebox</input-type>
                    <hint>Enter the title of the book</hint>
                    <required>The title of the book is required.</required>
                </field>
