Hello Shaw, you can update directly from 1.4.2 to 1.6.0 and follow the directions given in the documentation 4.1. Upgrading from 1.5.x to 1.6 with some additions.
You got to run all the database upgrade scripts between 1.4.2 and 1.6.0. There have been numerous new configuration parameters between 1.4.2 and 1.6.0, so check the dspace.cfg carefully and do not just take your old one.
Basically you follow the instructions from chapter 4.1 of the documentation (* for changes/additions)
1. Backup Your DSpace 2. Download DSpace 1.6. 3. Stop Tomcat 4. Apply any customizations 5. Update Configuration Files 6. Build DSpace 7. Update the database. * run all the update scripts: database_schema-14-15.sql database_schema-15-16.sql 8. Update DSpace * run ant init_configs * import the new metadatafields for SWORD [dspace]/bin/dsrun org.dspace.administer.MetadataImporter -f [dspace]/config/registries/sword-metadata.xml * Rebuild browse and search indexes * Update statistics scripts 9. Rolling Log Aappender Upgrade. 10 Generate Browse and Search Indexes 11.Deploy Web Applications 12.Restart servlet container Hope that helps Claudia Jürgen
Hi, We need to update from 1.4.2 to 1.6.0. I guess we have to update from 1.4.2 to 1.5.0 first. Am I right? But how about from 1.5.0 to 1.6.0? Do we have to go to 1.5.2 first or we can go directly from 1.5.0 to 1.6.0? Thanks in advance for any input.
