Be sure to check your logs, and perhaps turn on debug level logging.

Hopefully that will produce some useful information to go forward with.

Also, were there any problems that popped up during database dump and
restore.
I usually use pgadmin3 to do my database dumps and restores so if you still
have access to the original database perhaps that can ensure that process
goes smoother.
