I have released version 1.6 of dspace, and today we tried using the item mapper and noticed that when you search for an author, it seems to be case sensitive, which was not the case 1.5.2. So in our case, when we searched for "gruppen" we got no hits in the item mapper, but when we searched for "Gruppen" we got the 4 hits we were expecting. This seems like some sort of configuration parameter issue. Anyone have any ideas?
