Tonny, The release process is dependent on our staged release process being synchronized with the Maven Central Repository. This used to be every 3 to 4 hrs. now it seems to be less frequent (a day or more). We will announce when the release is completely published.
I would highly recommend doing a staging upgrade initially when upgrading from 1.5.x to 1.6.1, there are significant changes in the code and configuration, it is a best practice to stage major version upgrades.
