In fact we should be doing more of this, instead of the frequent practice of augmenting DC (in which case it is no longer DC, really). To introduce new concepts, introduce new namespace.
Mind you, we need to do this in coordination with others. There are a lot of metadata namespaces out there already, and you may find one (or several) to be a good fit to the meanings and structure that you need.
