I'll just add that:
[dspace-src] == is a generic way of saying "path to your dspace source
directory". Source directory being the main folder that you downloaded from
the dspace.org website or however. In your case:
/opt/dspace/dspace-1.6.1-src-release
[dspace] == a generic way of saying "path to the dspace installation
directory". Installation directory being what gets executed by your servlet
container (tomcat, ...). Typically this will be /dspace, and is specified by
the key dspace.dir in [dspace-src]/dspace/config/dspace.cfg
