Installing DSpace itself is pretty straightforward, however it can be a pain
to get all of the prerequisite software installed and configured. More than
just booting a LAMP instance.
But, once you've gotten DSpace up and running, then you'll be able to
customize your theme/UI for your photo gallery. Most likely that would
involve CSS/XSLT with the XMLUI.

I'm interested in learning how to install and implement DSpace at my library

through main of the installation guides provided on the DSpace.org website
however I'm not 100% sure of what is needed to get DSpace up and running. I
