Hi all,

in DSpaceOAICatalogue the oai identifier is created with
oai:[hostname]:[handle]
where hostname is the dspace.hostname configured in dspace.cfg

An oai identifier consists of:
scheme ":" namespace-identifier ":" local-identifier

Looking at
http://www.openarchives.org/OAI/2.0/guidelines-oai-identifier.htm I
wonder whether this is a good approach with regards to persistence:
"Persistence: it is intended that oai-identifiers will be permanent.
That is, oai-identifiers must remain globally unique and items should
retain the same oai-identifier. (This is considerably weaker than RFC1737.)"

Shouldn't we make the namespace-identifier a seperate configuration
parameter? Hostnames are likely to change and the sideeffect on the oai
identifier is not very apparent.

Sunny greetings

Claudia Jürgen
