Hi, I have a query regarding memory usage for Dspace and Tomcat. I rather unthinkingly allocate memory to Tomcat in a simple manner eg...
JAVA_OPTS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m...... Using jconsole to look at the way the memory is allocated to the different generations I see that it is allocated in favour of the tenured generation at a ratio of 2:1. Dspace being a webapp, none of the objects last long enough to ever reach the tenured generation meaning that 2/3 of the allocated memory sits unused. So the question is, should I be forcing more of the memory to be allocated to the young generation ? Have I misunderstood something here ? Cheers, Robin.
