Not specifically related to DSpace, but Hudson is one way to run scripts on a remote machine and then do something with the results. It's a webapp that would be installed on your remote machine and then you can interact with it through its web interface (while it performs actions on the remote machine). For instance, we use it to (among many other things) run the DSpace reindexing script on a remote machine.
