Hi
I recently enquired about developing an intelligent search facility for dspace
and recieved a response from Tim Donohue (see below).
He asked for more specifics regarding this, as an initial idea i was thinking
perhaps a search that would benefit students, as the software is used by alot
of univerisities.
The function would allow students to search for material for their specific
course and module and assignment with a click of a button where the search
returns suggested material for the course, texts that match key words in the
assignments titles and the module titles.
I do intend to look into discovery in detail as part of my research and spot
any features it may be missing and perhaps prototype some features to work in
conjuntion with the discovery development.
I am still in the early stages of my research and any ideas or suggestion on
areas i could look in to would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Craig,
Glad to hear you may be interested in working with DSpace!
As for your project -- it sounds interesting, but it'd be good to hear more
specifics on what an 'intelligent search function' would entail. There's also
a semi-related project which may or may not be of interest to you, called
DSpace Discovery (https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Discovery),
which seeks to improve DSpace search/browse by use of Apache Solr.
Thanks,
Tim
