Hi Stuart, I'm looking into my log configuration now, because there hasn't been any activity in the logs since Tuesday, when I last restarted the web server.

If you look in your [dspace]/log/dspace.log-{datestamp} file, there should be some information saying why the authentication failed. This might give a clue as to what is going on.
