Hello,

We are in the process of reviewing our installation of DSpace (currently
1.4 running with postgres on a single server). DSpace seems to be a
pretty good fit to move to our webfarm away from a single server
architecture (we're thinking 1.7 with oracle) but we have a few
questions we'd like answers too before we make a decision one way or
another.

If anyone could help with the questions below either with direct
experience/knowledge or pointers to documentation I'd be very grateful
and apologies for the number of questions all in one post!

- How many people run DSpace using an oracle backend and how easy is it
to set up and maintain; are there any constraints with using oracle
instead of the native postgres?

- Does anyone have experience of migrating a DSpace postgres db to
oracle and if so are they're any gotchas that we need to be aware of?

- Does anyone have a recommended upgrade path from 1.4 -> 1.7 on fresh
servers with a different db. Is a clean install better than a step
install from a copy?

- And finally, does anyone have any experience with running DSpace on a
clustered environment and what things should we be aware of?

Many thanks in advance for any advice,
Claire
