Hi Jay,

A potentially simple approach to this might be to make a curation task, that
pulls the exif metadata out of the file itself, and writes it to some custom
item metadata field.

I'm not aware of file metadata extractors available for Java, but from the
terminal, I sometimes use "exiftool" to see information in the bitstream.
