Hi Veronica,
there are a few different ways how content can be ingested automatically in
DSpace. When you want to work in the web user interface, your best chance is
to use the feature to upload metadata through a spreadsheet.

Or you can use the command line scripts. A paper about this is available

In both of these methods, you need to specify the collection in advance.
