Tim, Oracle makes available these most awesome Virtual Box appliances with Oracle pre-installed:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html I'm tinkering with a one of these images on my macbookpro, so I can do DSpace development on the go, using a facsimile of our environment. If things work out well, I'll keep notes and add what I can to the Dspace wiki, so others can do the same. However, I will see if I can arrange things so that we can commit a server for the next testathon, to give the code a fair workout in an Oracle environment. Can you, or someone on this list, let me know that that would entail? What does "hosting an installation for testathon" look like? How does it work? Do I just need to set up an instance myself, or do I need to create accounts for you or another committer to oversee/verify configuration/compiling/etc?
