Hi Ian,
To go through with normal DSpace submission through the UI's, you'd need to
customize the submission steps to be able to point to a local path on the
server. That would take a decent amount of development I suppose.
(I suppose you could upload the files to the server, then tunnel firefox
through ssh, and submit normally.)
Sword is an option, but the user would still need to upload them.
Another option would be to build up a batch load, then FTP and ingest these
items through command line.
