Hi Ian, to the best of my knowledge, DSpace doesn't know how to look inside zip files out of the box, so it won't display its contents. Maybe what you heard was that the zip was downloaded by the client and opened in a program which listed its contents. However, it is possible to add a so called filter which would be able to extract fulltext from files inside a zip bitstream for indexing in DSpace. Again, this is currently not part of DSpace out of the box.
