What I really want to achieve is to test SWORD by being able to deposit items using it and allowing other sites that use SWORD to deposit items into our repository using SWORD.

The screenshot you provided looks like the SWORD server is also DSpace. Is the same DSpace instance both the SWORD client and server (what use would there be for such configuration)? So if you want to use DSpace as SWORD server, you need to configure it, like I originally wrote.
