I am running Dspace 1.8.2, and I face the following problem. In order to
localize Dspace, I have added the Messages.properties and
Messages_el.properties to folder
dspace-source/dspace-api/src/main/resources. Then I go to
dspace-source/dspace, execute the command mvn package and then from
target/dspace... I execute the command ant update.
In this case, my system ignores totally these properties files, and instead
it uses the files from the online repository, which builds them in the
dspace-api-lang.jar, if I understand correctly.
My second attempt was to add these two properties files in the
dspace-source/dspace/modules/jspui/src/main/resources folder. In that case,
it seems to understand the English file and the changes there, but for the
Greek file there are two cases. If I put the Messages_el.properties it does
not understand that it is UTF-8 encoded and shows strange characters
(although it is UTF-8 encoded), while if I put the
Messages_el.properties.UTF-8 as I show from the online repository, the
system does not understand it, and continues to use the repository version
merged with any changes of the local version of Messages.properties.
So I would like to ask you which is the correct approach in order to add
the Messages.properties and Messages_el.properties to my system in order to
be localized?
