As Lyncode implies, as of DSpace 1.8.x there are now two build options: 1. Running Maven from [dspace-source] (root directory) rebuilds *everything* 2. Running Maven from [dspace-source]/dspace/ (dspace subdirectory) only reapplies & recompiles Maven Overlays (i.e. it only compiles code in [dspace-source]/dspace/modules/ subdirectories)
