I think they were just fine-tuning it. I understand you still don't have it working at all. Like someone already pointed out - you need to change the url parameter of the ajax object to the Solr query (which you will find when you dig on the advanced search page I mentioned). Try it and let me know if you're stuck and what the problem is (always CC dspace-tech).
