Well, this is exactly what I knew would work, but what I recommend
against. I always cringe when I run into a site that does that.

You see, the difference is that the browser uses a different
(obviously better) downsampling method than the filter-media plugin.
Moreover, this may vary from browser to browser, so it's possible you
won't get consistent results.

The correct solution would be to find a better downsampling method for
filter-media, as I originally suggested. That has the added benefit of
helping all DSpace users because we could just use the improved
plugin.
