Hi Lewatle, you're mixing 2 distinct "notification" features here: 1) There's RSS, which works best with a specialized application called RSS reader; this has nothing to do with email at all. 2) There are subscriptions, which are sent by email. As administrator, you have to have SMTP properly configured in DSpace. As the subscribing user, you should select a collection/community you wish to subscribe to.
