As for BitstreamServlet.java, that seems to deal mostly with preparing the bitstream for feeding to the user interface. You might be able to reuse some code, but you will definitely need to start with that again. Java code in XMLUI is found in Aspects, so you may have to write one or modify an existing one. I can tell you that documentation on writing aspects is definitely lacking. Please, do take notes along and publish them on the wiki when you're done, it would be very helpful. I could also share with you the one aspect I wrote, just for reference (file locations and such) - it's some glue code to our very specific systems so it's useless by itself for anyone else.
