OK. Done that. It is a much smaller file:

-rw-r--r-- 1 tomcat6 tomcat6 18205777 2012-11-15 11:03 GeoLiteCity.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 tomcat6 tomcat6 45701644 2012-03-22 13:45 GeoLiteCity.dat.new

I'll keep an eye on it.
