...and of course the real underlying issue is that EditItemBitstreamsForm calls Button#setValue(Message), which apparently breaks the i18n process (likely because dri2xhtml-alt doesn't invoke i18n for button values, but I don't have time to check properly). This in turn means that the generated HTML contains the i18n key rather than the value from the appropriate messages catalogue. The button value is still untranslated on demo.dspace.org, so this bug is still present in 3.0rc3 or master or whatever the demo server is running.
