No, there was actually no problem. It was just a precaution. I didn't even need it if I looked carefully. The parser message says that it encoutered the <性情論> tag, which is not enclosed. Now while you can have a tag in a non-ASCII script as long as you enclose it properly, I don't think this was meant to be a tag. I think you want the literal "<" and ">" characters. In that case, replace them wih "<" and ">", respectively. I tested it and it works fine.
