I am trying to map experts in various areas such as Information Technology,
Biology, etc.. with number of years of experience in those areas. The
problem I am faced with is assigning the years of experience to the area of
expertise, therefore, I created metadata fields for each area of expertise
and assign a number to it which would represent the years. If a new area of
expertise comes up, and it is updated in the metadata registry I would want
to add it to the drop down list of the input form (which would be done
automatically). To see the changes I would need to restart the server
automatically. I was also thinking of modifying the search index of the
dspace.cfg, by adding the metadata values there and edit the solr
schema.xml file to add the metadata
field.
