Hi João, Hi Helix,

i have to come back to you with the question for an expansion of the
metadata-import.
I talked with my colleagues and we carve out that for a archive, like us, that
will import and update meta-data periodically from an external source there
have to be a possibility to check if that meta-data already exists in DSpace.
We discussed a lot of possibilities to get that working, but all ideas like
scripting or cross database (mysql/postgresql) checks are just dirty
workarounds.
In my opinion the best way, and the place where it have to be, is the import it
self, or?

I'm not a programmer, but, maybe it is not so complicated for you to expand the
metadata-import function that checks the first column of the CSV against the
internal document ID in the database
to do that with a column named like "uuid" or "uniqueKey" or something else?

Maybe you can provide me a patch like the last time with the XOAI UTC bug where
i tested the xoai, you remember?
I'm willing to test the patch and functionality around it for such a patch
again and if it works, you can provide that in future releases of DSpace for
all as new feature?!

Hope we can arrange something.

Best regards, Marco

Hi João,

I think Marco would welcome some pointers on how to do that (the dspace-devel
type of answer).

Marco, you should specify which importer you're using ("[dspace]/bin/dspace
import" or "[dspace]/bin/dspace packager" or "[dspace]/bin/dspace
metadata-import").
