Yes, as you can see below, the browseMode variable is declared in the
dri2xhtml theme from the same repository. The dri2xhtml theme
distributed with DSpace doesn't declare the variable, so you have to
use the one from the DSpaceOSUKB repository.

dspace-xmlui/dspace-xmlui-webapp/src/main/webapp/themes/dri2xhtml/structural.xsl:69:

So you have to copy both the dri2xhtml.xsl file and the dri2xhtml
directory. That will make the theme work. In addition, there are other
resources like images and css in the static directory, so you have to
copy that as well.
