Hi lext, you have to understand that REST API is not yet an official part of DSpace, so not many people will be able to answer your questions. That said, there are significant efforts to make REST API part of DSpace 4.0. But there are several implementations and the one you chose is the oldest one and is not developed anymore. There were 2 forks, from Wijiti and from Hedtek:

Concerning your particular error - I doubt anyone can help you with only the information you provided. You would need to get the stacktrace of the error, probably by turning up log level to DEBUG on some component, but I don't know which one that would be.
