Your configuration is indded the default: https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-1_8_x/dspace/config/dspace.cfg#L1124 I have tested two 3.x instances (including demo) and a 1.8.2 instance and all of them are exhibiting the behaviour you described (rss 2.0 has dc.contributor.author in description; atom 1.0 has dc.contributor.author both in author/name and in summary). One difference I noticed is that your instance includes field descriptions ("Title: ", "Author: ", "Abstract: "), while none of the 3 instances I tested includes them (naither in rss 2.0, nor in atom 1.0).
