Dear DSpace Community,

The DSpace committers team are delighted to announce a new member to
the group: Kostas Stamatis from The National Documentation Centre /
National Hellenic Research Foundation (EKT / NHRF) in Greece. Please
join us in welcoming him!

Kostas holds a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the
National Technical University of Athens and a Master’s degree from the
Information Networking Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He is
a key member of the EKT technical team, who are using DSpace since
2007 to build a range of repositories of research, cultural and
educational content [1][2] as part of the Greek National Information
System for Research and Technology [3]. Kostas is in particular the
lead developer for the technical implementation of the Hellenic
National Archive of PhD Theses, including the archive’s DSpace
repository [4] and heavily involved in the continuous development of
the EKT national scale repositories infrastructure, providing
repositories with the SaaS model and feeding the EKT-operated national
aggregator [5].
The EKT team has made a number of contributions (involving Kostas,
Nikos Houssos, Rania Stathopoulou and Christina Paschou); several of
them appeared as part of the DSpace 3.0 release, such as the batch
import of various forms of bibliographic data and improvements related
to multi-lingual controlled vocabularies and to JSPUI. EKT will be
supporting Kostas in its DSpace committer role and will work towards
further contributions to the DSpace community.

We are always on the lookout for new developers, contributors, and
committers within the DSpace community. Anyone who would like to get
more involved is encouraged to do so. You are also welcome to contact
us at any time if you'd like some ideas of how to start contributing:

Contributions can take many forms, from writing code to editing
documentation, or testing new releases to designing new themes for our
user interfaces.

If you or someone you know has been an active DSpace contributor for
some time, you can also nominate that person to become our next
committer! Nomination details are available at:

Thanks,

The DSpace Committers Group
