Marina's advice solves the same goal, but does most of the processing
in Java rather than XSLT. Which approach you'll take depends only on
which technology you're more comfortable with. But as I said,
time-based resource policies are currently missing from METS and
should be added anyway, so you would kill two birds with one stone.

Well, one thing from there is not currently doable. The theme has no
information about the currently logged in user. I encountered this
while making the lock icon contribution, but moved this part into a
separate issue:

This will also require some Java code to add that information into
DRI, from where the theme can grab it.

And the information should be added somewhere into //meta/userMeta.
