Hi Remi,

better late than never, I just discovered that PDF is actually a
supported import format in DSpace packager and should be able to
extract the metadata for a newly created item from the PDF itself. I
haven't tested how well it works, I guess it depends on the quality of
the metadata in PDF. See details here:
