Hello, my backup command for postgres is
/usr/bin/pg_dumpall -o -c -v > /srv/dspace/dumpall.sql I have carried that with me since DSpace 1.3 or DSpace 1.4. Currently, I use DSpace 1.8. Now, while moving to a new machine, I revisited the section under Architecture / Storage Layer in th Documentation and could not find any hint as to why I had used the -o option at all. The oldest version of the docs that I still have stored locally is DSpace 1.4.2 and there is no mention of -o either. Had there ever been a requirement to preserve oids while backing up which has been removed meanwhile? Did this option make it into my installation by an arbitrary yet stupid inspiration of mine? Should I preserve it since it has worked so good all the time or should I skip it to make things clean and simple? Any opinion and advice appreciated.
