Before you start thinking about which technology you'll use, you should first define your needs. What do you want to build? What use cases will your users have for the service? Why is not just DSpace or just Drupal not enough? Why are you considering this combination of software and not another, what does each of the systems bring to the table? It's impossible to give you useful advice without understanding your needs first.
