Hi,
I can’t give a detailed step by step guide as it has been a long time since I
set this up and our DSpace is currently running on an older version of RedHat
and tomcat, but hopefully they haven’t changed things that much and my sparse
notes will be of help.
The first thing I would suggest to get it running as the same user is to add
the following line to your /etc/sysconfig/tomcat7 file:
TOMCAT_USER=”dspace”
Once you’ve done that you will find that tomcat won’t have access to some of
the directories it needs to write to. Personally I would set their group to be
the tomcat group and grant write permissions to the group, then make sure that
you have added the dspace user to the tomcat group (and while you’re at it you
may as well add the tomcat user to the dspace group). Directories that you
will want to do this for are going to be under /var/cache/tomcat7 and
/var/lib/tomcat7.
It may be that there are more directories that you will need to change the
group and permissions of but these should be highlighted in tomcat’s error logs.
