Hi all,

We've recently copied our older DSpace instance over to a test server and have
upgraded it to 4.2 there. A few weeks later a couple users reported receiving
several hundred "Request copy of document" e-mails from the test server filled
in with bogus e-mail addresses and usernames.

Looking at the DSpace documentation, I commented out request.item.type in
dspace.cfg and rebuilt the application. I tried to view a restricted item as an
anonymous user and verified that the form for requesting a copy was no longer
available. DSpace directed me to a login page instead.

Based on this I concluded this feature was disabled, which is what I was
looking to do. However, it wasn't more than a week after making this change
when we received reports of another round of e-mails went out to users.

Has anyone else experienced being hit with spam from the request a copy
feature? Any suggestions?

Thanks

--Ryan
