We have an instance (1.8, JSPUI) where some communities/collections are restricted, which may pose a problem in terms of registering with Google Scholar, I read through their guidelines at http://scholar.google.com/intl/en-US/scholar/inclusion.html. <http://scholar.google.com/intl/en-US/scholar/inclusion.html>

The restrictions we have in place are IP based. So if GoogleBot comes by an AuthorizationException is triggered and I assume the JSPUI returns the appropriate HTTP code. We do have a collection where users have to consent with an Agreement - but these are hiding behind the IP restrictions, so a GoogleBot would never even get there.

The guidelines indicate that Google Scholar does not want to see login pages or popups, but it sounds to me that they are OK with HTTP 4xx codes.

If that is true we should be fine. Are we ?
