We need people doing support (anwsering the ML), we need a commited project leader, we need a repository manager, we need people that have a vision where to go in the future with DSPAM, we need coders, we need someone managing the DSPAM web page, etc, etc, etc... I could do a lot of the above but it's not so easy as it sounds. Currently the copyright of DSPAM belongs to a bunch of people (me including) and without having a common consense with all of the copyright holders, some things are not as easy as one might think. Anyway... copyright is not an issue. The lack of time and the lack of interesst and knowledge is right now the biggest problem for the DSPAM project. > > > >> I'm willing to help (and I think we are a few). > >> > > If you want to transfer the doku you have made from your wiki to the > > DSPAM wiki, then Paul is the right person to ask for access. > > > > > > DSPAM wiki is not the easiest place to find information. It shows in easy steps how to get a basic DSPAM running. Off course such flexible tools like DSPAM can not easy be documented because there are so many different ways how to run it. But one step after the other. The documentation you made is IMHO good and the right way to go. > Random ideas: > - a better domain name (dspam.org is taken, maybe dspam-project.org ?) > - a more clear website with 4 section: about, download, documentation, > source code > - an official documentation > - a stable hash driver so people can test dspam without having to > deploy a killer database ? :p (ok, this is close to being a troll, > forget it :) ) > Yeah. You are a troll :) The Hash driver uses memory mapped files and that can lead to more stress for the CPU, memory and the IO subsystem than a RDBMS. So don't just assume that RDBMS = evil. The current Hash driver is okay. Not perfect but okay. On my local fork I have fixed most issues that the current Hash driver has. However... had not that much time to test everything deeply. > I can correct and maintain the documentation (to some extend, I'm > already pretty loaded), just show some interest and let's start the > talk. > > Julien > -- Kind Regards from Switzerland, Stevan Bajić ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Benefiting from Server Virtualization: Beyond Initial Workload Consolidation -- Increasing the use of server virtualization is a top priority.Virtualization can reduce costs, simplify management, and improve application availability and disaster protection.
