Hi Holger,

In your PostgreSQL logs, does the dspam user ever authenticate to the
database? Since you tried turning off standard strings and it still
failed, you may have another problem. The change in the default for
standard conforming strings was the only incompatible problem with
the 9.1 series and changing it back to the 9.0 default should have
been all you needed to get it working. As for the 8 character password
size on MySQL, it probably was baked in when the driver first used
an early version of the MySQL software.
