I'd highly reccomend to setup your mail first and prove your setup without 
dspam. 

Then install dspam from a package. 

Do not follow outdated tutorials from the web, instead read and understand the 
docs.   Also search the mailing list archives as many of the basic questions 
have been asked over and over.

Failing that you will find help on the mailing lists.
