Ok, but I followed Jonathan's suggestion and commented out the AllowOverride for signatureLocation, and it still happens... :-(

Me too, and it works just fine, at least in 3.6.8.
I think you might have a misconfiguration elsewhere.
Maybe in the user preferences overriding the global config.

yet dspam consistently outputs the signature on the message itself.

I've mentioned this in previous messages (to both lists).

This is quite annoying as I have to always edit any email reply to remove the signature from the body of the message reply.

Do you know when this bug can be fixed?
