I just installed the dspam package on ubuntu 7.10. Before integrating dspam with my mail system (postfix + dovecot), I wanted to test the program -- but it apparently just does nothing.

Is this normal dspam behaviour?! How can I feed it a mail, and see its output? (I would expect that dspam acts as a filter, and gives back the input mail with attached X-Spam-Headers or similar..)

Would really depend on the options it was built with, welcome to the joys of packages, only the package builder can tell you. Take a look at this link for an integration of dspam where maildrop calls dspam and all mail be it spam or ham gets delivered back to maildrop for delivery / delivery to quarantine.

In that scenario, you should see output back to you from the commandline, but this guy does build from source and not an ubuntu package.

HTH,

Brian.
