There are many people on this list that have been running either the
3.8.0 or CVS code for a month or longer (myself included) so that should
alleviate at least _some_ of the concerns.
I would definitely back up all of your config files in /etc/dspam before
any change. There were some minor changes in dspam.conf that you may
want to spend some time creating a new one by migrating over any of
your particular settings first. Oh, and you may want to back up your
dspam databases (flat files or mysql or whatever you're running) just
for good measure.
3.8 includes 30+ bugfixes and the CVS version even further cleans up
loads of memory leaks thanks to the good work of Steve and others,
mostly from the Gentoo distro. So you are likely to have a more stable
filter. My 3.6.8 was crashing a ton due to bugs in the merged group
handling. There are also a lot more helpful debug messages in the
newest versions for when things may go wrong.

Yep. They are .debs after all ;-) Just uninstall the others.
I hate dealing with email systems, it's so easy to break something and
not find out straight away, and its nearly impossible to test anything
other than a "live" system. It just makes me nervous :-!
I think I'll just have to pluck up the courage and go for it. Is there
any obvious benefit I should get from 3.8 vs 3.6.8?
